About Hinder

For more than 15 years, hard-partying Oklahoma City outfit Hinder has topped the charts while carrying the torch for old-fashioned rock ’n’ roll. ∙ The group first took shape in 2001, after drummer Cody Hanson and guitarist Joe Garvey spotted vocalist Austin Winkler singing covers at a college party and asked him to join their band. ∙ Hinder’s 2005 debut album, Extreme Behavior, went triple Platinum after reaching No. 6 on the Billboard 200. ∙ “Lips of an Angel,” the second single from Extreme Behavior, was an international smash—it hit No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went to No. 1 in both Australia and New Zealand. ∙ In 2007, Hinder was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. ∙ Their Gold-certified sophomore album, 2008’s Take It to the Limit, featured a guest turn from Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars. ∙ Following the departure of Winkler in 2013—and shows with fill-in vocalists such as Jared Weeks of Saving Abel—Hinder’s longtime producer Marshal Dutton took over as the band’s lead singer.
