About Hawthorne Heights
Originally called A Day in the Life, screamo band Hawthorne Heights formed in 2001 in Dayton, Ohio. ∙ The group’s 2004 debut single, “Ohio Is for Lovers,” received massive video airplay, spawning its nickname, “The Emo Anthem,” and propelling it to Gold status. ∙ If Only You Were Lonely, their 2006 concept album named after a Replacements song, featured the hit “Saying Sorry” and reached No. 3 on the Pop chart. ∙ On the 10th anniversary of their breakthrough debut, The Silence in Black and White, the band released an acoustic version as an iTunes exclusive. ∙ Dads of Sad, released in 2019, featured covers of Kacey Musgraves and Billie Eilish songs in what the group called “a great exercise in trying to make happy pop sound like sad emo.” ∙ In 2020, Hawthorne Heights announced a virtual video tour to play 38 dates at empty venues across the US in support of local music scenes.
