About Taking Back Sunday
With roots in Long Island’s pop-punk scene, alt rockers Taking Back Sunday emerged as one of the defining bands of the 2000s emo movement. ∙ Their Gold-certified 2002 debut, Tell All Your Friends, is now considered a classic and has appeared on such lists as Rolling Stone’s 40 Greatest Emo Albums of All Time. ∙ “A Decade Under the Influence,” from the 2004 album Where You Want To Be, is included on Vulture’s countdown of the 100 Greatest Emo Songs of All Time. ∙ The breakout single “MakeDamnSure” landed in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart and earned 2006’s Louder Now a Best Album nomination at the Kerrang! Awards. ∙ After making a number of personnel changes over the years, the band returned to its original lineup for 2011’s Taking Back Sunday, which made the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 chart. ∙ In 2018, they joined such iconic artists as Billy Joel, Joan Jett, and Lou Reed as inductees of the Long Island Music Hall of Fame.
