Textures

Textures is an inventive Dutch melodic metalcore sextet that expands (and somewhat humanizes) the oppressive progressive death metal style of Meshuggah by incorporating dark melodies and keyboard-led atmospheric passages into their off-kilter rhythmic patterns and near-hardcore aggression. Early efforts like Polars (2004) and Drawing Circles (2006) balanced raw power and technical precision, a sound that evolved on 2011's melodic and atmospheric Dualism. After disbanding in 2017 following the release of the ambitious Phenotype, Textures returned with Genotype (2026), completing a long-delayed conceptual arc.
