Fatherhood has evidently had an extraordinary impact on Camilo, on both a personal and artistic level. For his fifth album, Para Cuando Sean Mayores, the Colombian singer-songwriter crafted a project dedicated to his two daughters, Índigo and Amaranto, that benefits from reflecting on his own childhood. Taking on a kind of storytelling role, he draws upon his own memories for “El Titiritero” and the somewhat cryptic “El Traje.” Elsewhere, he gradually comes to terms with the impermanence of youth with a wistful acceptance on “La Nieve.” That pensiveness goes further inwards on the somewhat melancholic “El Árbol,” his enchanting voice leading the sleek yet still organic-sounding production. On “La Medalla,” he’s joined by his wife and fellow pop star Evaluna Montaner, the musically compatible pair trading verses practically overflowing with deeply felt sentiments.
