Madhubanti Bagchi

Kolkata-raised singer Madhubanti Bagchi has become one of Bollywood’s most distinctive voices, having developed a hybrid style of classical vocal training with modern techniques. Trained in Hindustani vocals, Bagchi’s playback work carries a tonal weight that sets her apart. Determined to be known beyond her classical vocal flair, Bagchi even drew from bands such as Linkin Park and honed her Western music influences by practising metal singing techniques. Working with composers including Amit Trivedi and Sachin-Jigar, her mainstream breakthrough came with “Aaj Ki Raat” for Stree 2 (2024), composed by Sachin-Jigar. The song was euphoric, but also delivered with the sombreness of a ghazal. On Dhurandhar (2025), she brought contrasting registers to composer Shashwat Sachdev, including the breezy flirtation of “Shararat” alongside the jubilant, Bappi Lahiri-sampled retro exuberance of “Ramba Ho”, proving that her range is as emotional as it is tonal.
