About Nothing
With a sound that splits the difference between heavy metal darkness and shimmering shoegaze beauty, Nothing revolves around walls of distorted guitars and pummeling drums, topped by angelic vocal harmonies and soul-searching lyrics that tell of hard times and pain of all kinds. The band's debut album, 2014's Guilty of Everything, struck a bracing truce between metal and shoegaze, and subsequent records toggled between a soaring harmony-filled sound (2016's Tired of Tomorrow) and a dramatic, almost dream-pop approach (2018's Dance on the Blacktop) while never straying too far from a metallic underpinning. Nothing's 2023 collaboration with Full of Hell, When No Birds Sang, showed that no matter how pretty some of their albums have sounded, they were still willing to dive pedal-first into the avant-metal deep. 2026's A Short History of Decay added acoustic guitars and breakbeats to the ever-evolving sonic mix.
