About Nels Cline

Guitarist Nels Cline is a wide-ranging artist whose résumé includes albums made in jazz, rock, and avant-garde idioms, membership in Wilco, and time spent working with his own group Quartet Music and his general involvement in the West Coast's avant and improv scenes. During the '90s, Cline joined drummer Gregg Bendian's Interzone group while leading his own trio, the Nels Cline Singers. In 2004, he joined the alt-country and experimental pop act Wilco. His recordings since then include New Monastery for Andrew Hill (2006), a retrospective soundtrack for a touring exhibit of Ed Ruscha's paintings (Dirty Baby, 2010), Lovers, his 2016 Blue Note debut Share the Wealth in 2020, and Consentrik Quartet in 2025, followed in September by Trio of Bloom alongside pianist Craig Taborn and drummer Marcus Gilmore.
