John Zorn

About John Zorn

Composer John Zorn is "prolific." His hundreds of albums reveal a staggering compositional diversity that includes improvised "game pieces" (Cobra) hardcore punk and avant-jazz fusion (Spy vs. Spy: The Music of Ornette Coleman with Naked City) classical (Bar Kokhba), and more. His composition books reflect the core influence of his Jewish heritage, mysticism, art, and philosophy. He's composed dozens of soundtracks, chamber pieces (Hen to Pan), avant-rock, jazz exotica (The Gift), and even sacred vocal works (Alhambra Love Songs). In 2023, Tzadik issued the Bagatelles, Vol. 3 box set, showcasing four ensembles in a program of premiers.
