Neil Finn's eclectic songwriting can't fit into the admittedly spacious, pop-filled rooms of Crowded House. He was initially the master of nervy New Wave with Split Enz (“What's the Matter with You”), then expanded his brief on solo albums that flirted with electronics. Then there's his lo-fi groove-based side project Pajama Club and his work with brother Tim, where their two voices spar and embrace like old friends on warm and woody folk-pop.
