2020-09 Part 1

I have been on a Chaka kick. Shintaro Sakamoto one of my fav J Pop singers. Bahamas new song, he really has amazingly clean production on his last few albums. Love the guitar. New Angel is worth a listen—can’t get enough of this song. High on Your Love is a really warm 2009 song from Milwaukee band Kings Go Forth. I orig. heard a cover of it first by Amber Mark. Never got into Sloan much but enjoying this song. I have an affinity for swelling horns. Malibu is a real upbeat summer jam. Shout out to Baywatch. More old school R&B with classic Neneh Cherry song. Nice to see Dua Lipa get Madonna and Missy Elliott on a remix. New Jazmine Sullivan is exciting. Been listening to a lot of R&B this week because I watched a Brandy and Monica live stream. Really enjoy the whole new Courtney Marie Andrews album—this is the closing song. Dave Lewis and We All Together songs are obscure 70s AM folk pop. HC McEntire is lead singer from Mount Moriah who opened for the Mountain Goats years ago when a bunch of us went to see them in NC. she also tours with Angel O. The only other Wreckless Eric song I know besides Whole Wide World. Bill Callahan singing the lyric “buffalo meat” is nourishment for the soul. Saw a really beautiful live video of this Stevie song floating around the internet. Heard “It’s Gonna Rain” on I May Destroy You HBO show. Very catchy.
