Forgot how great and different the early Freddie Gibbs stuff is from all the more soulful (and great) new Madlib-ish stuff. Flo Milli whole album is so fun and perfect. Tom gave me a heads up on new Max B album. Loved it—theres a song on it that samples Bone Thugs’ 1st of tha Month too. Mystikal song (produced by Scott Storch who makes very soothing beat-making videos) has some classic dumb lines including ‘Bop Bop Ba Lula’ and ‘callin me big bucks, no whammies’. I always forget this song but it was the last big single of his after Shake Ya Ass and Danger. MIKE album is excellent & worth repeat listens. Jones Girls bassline gets to me every time. 1980. Your Lips chorus is too easy to get stuck in your head. Sing It Back was a big single and I vaguely remember it. Have been enjoying summertime Huey L; there’s a great unreleased Thin Lizzy/Huey song called One Wish (not on Apple). Another gem from lost 70s folk album by Tia Blake. Loleatta Holloway one of my favorite summer listens. So many hits. Marked Men is a car shuffle song/trip down memory lane. Love the hazy guitar harmonies on this jam from new MMJ album.
