Jakub Józef Orliński: Summertime Sounds

“I love the atmosphere around the summer music festivals,” Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński tells Apple Music. “I am going to some classical music festivals, but also big pop, rap, and electronic music festivals, and I just can't wait to dance to all the rhythms.” In this playlist, Orliński includes classical tracks which he says “really help me transport myself, sometimes to focus, sometimes to get my thoughts to some different place to wonder and dream. I love instrumental music, especially Handel’s Water Music. And I think Aleksander Dębicz’s ‘Bee’, ‘Toccata No. 1,’ and ‘Recipe’ are great examples of classical music that invite you to explore that genre.” That said, Orliński says he likes any music that “takes me on an adventure,” and for him that includes “songs by my favorite bands and artists like Coldplay, Hania Rani, Melody Gardot, and Gregory Porter.” And the track that is perhaps most meaningful to him is “7 years” by Lukas Graham: “It’s just an incredibly emotional song that truly touched the hearts of people around the world, and I am no different.”
