About Sixpence None the Richer
Sixpence None the Richer is a Christian alt-rock group that has successfully straddled the border between religious and secular music during a career spanning nearly 30 years. ∙ Their second album, 1995’s This Beautiful Mess, earned them their first of three Dove Awards, and its title would also serve as the original name of rock band OneRepublic. ∙ The Grammy-nominated “Kiss Me” was a global hit in 1998, and the band’s videos for the single paid tribute to François Truffaut’s film Jules et Jim as well as TV’s Dawson’s Creek. ∙ In 1999, the Platinum-certified Sixpence None the Richer peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart during a 62-week run. ∙ Christian Music Today ranked the group’s fourth LP, Divine Discontent, the Best Album of 2002. ∙ Lead vocalist Leigh Nash released a secular solo album, The State I’m In, which placed at No. 4 on The Guardian’s list of the 10 Best Country Albums of 2015.
