About Nils Lofgren
Probably most famous as the guitarist summoned by Neil Young with "Alright, Nils" on Tonight's the Night (which he responds to like a man afire), Nils Lofgren has enjoyed a long and critically lauded career as both a solo artist and a sideman to the stars. While a souful vocalist and accomplished songwriter, Lofgren's main calling card is his simultaneously eruptive and elegiac guitar solos, which he brought to Crazy Horse, several Young albums, and the band Grin before signing as a solo artist with A&M. His debut earned great reviews and the follow-up, 1976's Cry Tough, sold briskly on both sides of the Atlantic. Lofgren joined Bruce Springsteen’s E-Street Band in 1984 -- his main gig into the 2000s -- and continued to release solo records with great regularity. ~ Rovi Staff
