About Machine Head

Following his split from the thrash outfit Vio-lence, Robb Flynn teamed up with Adam Duce in 1991 to form the Oakland, CA, metal band Machine Head.

Burn My Eyes, the band’s 1994 thrash-oriented debut LP, sold more than 400,000 copies, becoming Roadrunner Records’ fastest-selling debut ever.
∙ Although the nu-metal sound of 1999’s The Burning Red proved divisive among fans, it was the first Machine Head album to crack the top half of the Billboard 200 chart.
The Blackening won Best Album honors at the 2007 year’s Kerrang! Awards and was later named Metal Hammer’s Album of the Decade.
∙ “Aesthetics of Hate,” the first single off The Blackening, earned the group a Grammy Award nomination for Best Metal Performance.
∙ The band’s highest-charting album to date, Bloodstone & Diamonds, debuted at No. 21 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in 2014.
∙ In 2019, Flynn enlisted former members Logan Mader and Chris Kontos to join him for a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of Machine Head’s seminal Burn My Eyes.
