Machine Head Essentials

Oakland, California's Machine Head formed in 1991 out of the ashes of the thrash band Vio-lence. After the release of their debut, Burn My Eyes, they toured extensively, frequently opening for Slayer until they scored their first headlining tour in 1995. Machine Head's combination of trash, groove, and death metal struck a chord with listeners, ushering their 1997 follow-up, The More Things Change… onto the Billboard 200 charts. Though the band has gone through numerous lineup changes, they've remained one of the premier cutting-edge metal bands of the 21st century.
