About Koomz

With wide-ranging tastes that pull from sources as varied as Afroswing and hip-hop and malleable vocals that serve whatever style he chooses, Koomz' tracks feel boldly international. Born Amar Kumar in 1999, the London-raised rapper and singer/songwriter first became famous as a content creator in Stratford. In 2016, the ambitious Bengali performer tried his hand at rap when he teamed with his friends to record his first song, "Get That Addin," a playful track that sees him let off quick-fire flexes. While that got him started, he began to break out with "Mariah," an infectiously melodic Afroswing tune that went viral upon its release in 2018, the same year he signed a deal with Relentless Records. In subsequent years, he reinforced his catalog with similarly infectious singles like "Pretty One" and "Passenger," solidifying his place as one of the most versatile voices in UK hip-hop.
