About Gavin Greenaway

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was about 10 years old, I remember finding a Beatles song book and learning to play Yesterday on the piano, before I’d even heard the recording. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? André Previn, Ralph Kirshbaum, Young Uck Kim, Ravel & Shostakovich: Piano Trios Miles Davis, Kind of Blue Steve Reich Ensemble, Music for 18 Musicians Piano Trios: The album I played over and over when I was a teenager. Music for 18 musicians: The album that turned me on to minimalism. Kind Of Blue: Timeless and sounding better than ever with the remaster, featuring my favourite pianist, Bill Evans Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “The Sun Rose” This is the track (from woven) when I first discovered I could multi-track my upright piano, and make it work as if it was a one-person felt-piano orchestra. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The premiere of Ecce Cor Meum for Sir Paul McCartney at the Royal Albert Hall was my first concert conducting a full orchestra. Considering my first musical memory, this felt particularly apt. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? To perform a solo piano set at the Glastonbury festival would be an incredible experience.
