About Joanne Shaw Taylor

Joanne Shaw Taylor is a British blues-rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter whose playing style is influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Albert Collins, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. She was lead guitarist in Dave Stewart's supergroup D.U.P. at 16. Her 2009 debut, White Sugar, and follow-up, 2010's Diamonds in the Dirt, placed inside the Top Ten on the American charts. In 2012 she was Annie Lennox's lead guitarist at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert. Taylor recorded 2014's Dirty Truth and 2016's Wild for her own Axe House Music label. 2019's Reckless Heart was recorded in her adopted hometown of Detroit. In 2020, she signed with Joe Bonamassa's KBTA Records label. She built a star-studded band covering modern and vintage blues and R&B, for 2021's The Blues Album. 2024's Heavy Soul won acclaim for its rootsier sound. She returned in 2025 with the more polished Black & Gold.
