About Dave Douglas
Dave Douglas is among the most original trumpeters and composers of his generation. During the '90s, Douglas played in John Zorn's Masada and led Tiny Bell Trio and recorded dozens of albums as a leader for several labels, among them 1997's seminal Stargazer, 2001's Witness, and 2003's Strange Liberation. He founded Greenleaf Records and his label dates include 2006's Meaning and Mystery, 2009's Spirit Moves, and 2015's High Risk. Overcome appeared in 2020 and followed by Other Worlds, from his and saxophonist Joe Lovano's Sound Prints ensemble. If There Are Mountains, in duo with pianist Elan Mehler appeared in 2023. Following 2024's quartet offering Gifts, he joined collaborators Helen Sung and Aubrey Johnson on Lives of the Saints: Portraits in Song with Words by David Hajdu and also released Alloy. The first four months of 2026 netted Four Freedoms and Transcend.
