Red River Dialect

The earthy, literate folk-rock of Cornwall-based outfit Red River Dialect is led by Welsh singer/songwriter David John Morris. After beginning as a solo project, Morris' poetic acoustic missives were expanded to varying degrees by a nimble five-piece band on albums like 2012's awellupontheway and 2018's pastoral Broken Stay Open Sky. The latter of those two was released by American indie Paradise of Bachelors, which helped introduce Red River Dialect's peculiar gifts to a Stateside audience. Their fifth album, Abundance Welcoming Ghosts, appeared a year later. In the early 2020s, Morris recorded a pair of intimate solo albums before reviving the full band to release its richly textured sixth album, 2025's Basic Country Mustard.
