By 1998's Two Pages, former junglists 4hero had moved beyond the genre's limits. On "Loveless," Ursula Rucker intones spoken-word poetry over upright bass and live drums, kicking off an excursion into jazz-dance fusion laced with strings, horns, and, on "Third Stream," even tabla, while "The Action" dips into classic boom-bap. But on "We Who Are Not as Others," "Pegasus 51," and "Three Thousand and Five," the D‘n’B titans return to rolling breaks and analog synths with abandon, sounding as futuristic as ever.
