El Amor Que Merecemos
In the decade and a half since her debut album Cualquier Día and its standout track “Hoy Ya Me Voy,” Kany García has established herself as a Latin music mainstay. The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter has deservedly earned numerous awards and accolades over the years for her expressive pop performances, evident on record as well as live in concert. Following 2020’s duets-centric Mesa Para Dos, she returns to a primarily solo mode for El Amor Que Merecemos, a mature yet energized exemplar of her broadening musical scope. The tropical sounds of the romantically liberated “Agüita e Coco” mesh well with the joyfully snarky and pop-wise kiss-off of “DPM.” Among the album’s choice handful of collaborations, her magnificent ballads “Muero” with the legendary Alejandro Sanz and “No Vuelvas” with rising star Jay Wheeler provide some of the most defining moments.
