On 2024’s Que Sigan Llegando Las Pacas, Street Mob signee Chino Pacas properly established himself as a corridos star on the rise. By the following year’s CRISTIAN, however, he’d already begun experimenting in other genre spaces, not the least of which being hip-hop. Framed as a sequel to his debut, the Guanajuato-raised singer’s 2026 album vacillates between the contemporary música mexicana that first brought him fame and more eclectic styles that could see him ascend even higher. In the former category, there are robust corridos and sierreño cuts like “Billetes” and “Le Paso Volando” that day-one fans will assuredly connect with. One of the strongest of this batch, “Envidia” encapsulates his elevated talents, as does the closer “De La Nada.” Still, Chino’s pivot to straight-up rapping over “BLUES” and the Jersey club curveball “Madrugada” with FLVCKKA reinforces that he cannot be held back by anyone else’s expectations of him.
