Bloc Party have always been keen on wearing several different aesthetic hats at once, but on Four, they lasered in on big, monster guitar grooves for their most rock-oriented album yet. “So He Begins to Lie” opens the album with a grungy sway straight out of Lollapalooza 1992, and “Kettling” even folds some all-out heavy-metal howling into its stomp-box fuzz. But Bloc Party never play things too straight, with "3x3" fusing the band’s riff-heavy inclinations with their classic knack for driving, tension-building punk.
