Harvey Blumler and Gosha Smith make house music in more ways than one. They met over 10 years ago at a kids’ rock camp in Leeds. And now they’re housemates. “The workflow is so smooth,” Blumler tells Apple Music. “Us two working on our separate computers and running into each other's rooms to write together. It's perfect.” That instinctive songwriting created the hypnotic tune “Control the Party,” which combines a euphoric vocal sample with a deep, pulsating bassline that builds effortlessly and unpredictably. “We've been making music for a long time together,” says Smith. “Back in the day, Harvey was a drummer and I was a guitar player, so we had those roles, but now it's all about meshing as one. We click together so well that sometimes he might start an idea and then I'll work off that or vice versa.” And now nights out are spent by the DJ booth finding inspiration and absorbing new ideas. “The club is like going to school or going to a class,” he says.
