About Rowena Wise
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My earliest musical memory was when I was 3 years old, singing in the car with my sisters as we drove across the hot, endless Nullarbor Plain. We sang trad folk songs in 3-part harmonies for hours - I sang a high, squeaky harmony. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Helena Deland, Someone New Someone New by Helena Deland - I can relate to it no matter what mood I'm in. Big Time by Angel Olsen - it sounds so big, but still retains a lot of intimacy and heart. Here is the Pitch by Jessica Pratt - whimsical and human, with lush production. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “F**ked Up Over You” 'Indifferent' is special to me because of the vulnerable place I was when I wrote it, and how so many people have connected to it. It's about allowing yourself to feel the lows and to know you'll eventually overcome it all in the face of great pain. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Writing and recording my debut album. The songs are all about hard truths I had to face entering adulthood so it was cool to turn it into art. I've overcome a lot, and I somehow have exorcised my demons a bit by expressing it through music. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I’d like to write and produce a very self indulgent acid album. To make music without ego would be terrifying.
