Bay Area rapper Rexx Life Raj incorporates elements of R&B on his introspective—at times socially conscious—songs. • Rexx Life Raj draws a great deal of influence from his family. His mother sang in a gospel quartet, and his father was affiliated with the Black Panthers. • He started making his own music in middle school and also excelled at football, earning a scholarship to Boise State. • The singer-rapper debuted in 2014 with a pair of EPs: Portraits and Hidden Clouds. • He recorded most of the vocals for 2019’s Father Figure 3: Somewhere out There in hotel rooms while touring. The album includes “Your Way,” an acoustic ballad featuring Oakland singer Kehlani. • Rexx Life Raj attended middle and high school with fellow Bay Area rapper G-Eazy. The two have collaborated on tracks like “Bounce Back” and “Forever Lit.”
