Notions

Merging the energies of nu-metal and metalcore, Texan quartet Notions created an aggressive blend of djent-adjacent rock dubbed nu-metalcore. With their downtuned guitars, scream-singing, and occasional rap verses, the band made their official debut in early 2018. A year later, after signing with Stay Sick Recordings, they issued their first effort, Stay Away. Based in Austin, the foursome is comprised of vocalist Kalan Beal, guitarist Nick Hyatt, bassist Koda Pratt, and drummer Thomas Scheltema. After forming in 2017, they released their debut single, "Persona," in early 2018. After signing with Stay Sick Recordings, they played their first live show and joined tours with kindred spirits Fit for a King, Like Moths to Flames, and Currents. Additional singles "Wild Card" and "Outer Haven" were followed by their 2019 full-length debut, Stay Away. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
