Odonis Odonis

The brainchild of Toronto, Ontario's Dean Tzenos and Denholm Whale, Odonis Odonis' shape-shifting music is always rooted in darkness and noise. The duo fused shoegaze, surf rock, garage rock, industrial, and punk and topped it with tidal waves of noise on 2011's Hollandaze before honing its darkwave and post-punk bona fides on 2014's Polaris Prize-nominated Post Plague. Odonis Odonis ' industrial leanings came to the fore on later albums such as 2017's politically tinged No Pop and 2021's Spectrums, both of which made the most of Tzenos' sardonic viewpoint and sneering vocals. By the time of 2025's self-titled sixth album, Odonis Odonis went back to basics, finding new life in the classic sounds of brooding alt-pop of the '80s and '90s.
