About Hard-Fi
Hard-Fi's jagged indie rock bears traces of post-punk, dub, and dance rhythms, to which they add relatable lyrics about working-class English life. All of this endeared them to fans when they first appeared amid the millennial indie rock boom of the mid-2000s. From their home base in a converted mini-cab office in Staines, the band exceeded their D.I.Y. origins to create a big sound which was rewarded with commercial success. Hit singles like "Hard to Beat" and "Living for the Weekend" helped send their 2005 debut, Stars of CCTV, to the top of the U.K. charts. Hard-Fi repeated the formula for 2007's slightly darker Once Upon a Time in the West, which also reached number one and yielded the Top Ten hit "Suburban Knights." The group disbanded after the release of 2011's Killer Sounds, but reunited in the 2020s to release an EP, Don't Go Making Plans (2024) and full-length Sweating Someone Else's Fever (2026).
