About Kaiser Chiefs

Originally known as Parva, UK rock band Kaiser Chiefs decided on their current moniker in 2004, taking inspiration from a South African soccer team with that name. ∙ Kaiser Chiefs’ second single—the anthemic, ’70s-style power-pop smash “I Predict a Riot”—spent 41 weeks on the UK charts, where it reached the Top 10. ∙ Employment, their 2005 multi-Platinum debut album, was coproduced by Stephen Street, who’d famously helmed records by The Smiths, Blur, and The Cranberries. ∙ In 2006, the band won three BRIT and two NME Awards, including Best Album honors for Employment, which had also been shortlisted for the Mercury Prize. ∙ “Ruby,” the lead single from their 2007 LP, Yours Truly, Angry Mob, was a smash hit across Europe and reached No. 1 on the UK charts. ∙ All seven of the group’s studio albums have cracked the UK Top 10, and Kaiser Chiefs hit No. 1 for the second time with 2014’s Education, Education, Education & War.
