Kolohe Kai

Fronted by Roman De Peralta, Hawaiian reggae act Kolohe Kai formed when their members were still in high school. ∙ On the strength of their 2009 debut, This Is the Life, the group was nominated for two Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, the Hawaiian equivalent of the Grammys. ∙ In 2014, the soulful, laidback Paradise became Kolohe Kai’s first Billboard Reggae Albums chart hit, reaching No. 3. ∙ “Round and Around,” their optimistic 2018 single, was the graduation song for multiple Hawaii high schools in 2019. ∙ Summer to Winter debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart in 2019 and won Album of the Year at the Island Music Awards, which honor excellence in Hawaiian music. ∙ De Peralta used the music video for Kolohe Kai’s romantic 2020 single “Catching Lightning” as a backdrop to propose to his girlfriend.
