About Rrose

Rrose produces experimental techno and drone compositions which explore psychoacoustic phenomenon. Named in reference to Marcel Duchamp's persona Rrose Sélavy, the project first appeared anonymously in 2011, releasing music through the influential techno collective/label Sandwell District and making an impact with tracks such as "Waterfall." Rrose was gradually revealed as a female alter ego of longtime techno artist Seth Horvitz, intended as a political statement and an exploration of identity. While continuing to hone a singular style of hypnotic, psychedelic techno, Rrose also performs contemporary classical works, including a 2015 recording of James Tenney's Having Never Written a Note for Percussion and a collaboration with Charlemagne Palestine issued in 2019 titled The Goldennn Meeenn + Sheeenn. The project's official debut album, Hymn to Moisture, appeared in 2019, followed by Please Touch in 2023.
