About Regis
Birmingham, U.K.-born techno producer Karl O'Connor, aka Regis, favored the British techno sound pioneered by the likes of Sweet Exorcist, Renegade Soundwave, and Richard H. Kirk. Regis' debut, the 12" Montreal (1995), featured loop-driven slabs of industrial-techno. Gymnastics (1996) continued the dark, cold sound and was followed with Delivered into the Hands of Indifference (1998). On Penetration (2001), O'Connor incorporated field recordings and drones. Regis' output slowed throughout the noughties, but the 12" In a Syrian Tongue, as well as the three-disc Adolescence: The Complete Recordings 1994-2001, appeared on Blackest Ever Black in 2011.
