About Eluveitie

Swiss folk-metal band Eluveitie incorporates regional instrumentation such as hurdy-gurdy, flute, and bagpipes into an otherwise traditional melodic death metal style, also adding a pagan element channeled through lyrics in the Gaulish language (a dead language in the Celtic family that pre-dated Latin throughout Western Europe). The group's albums include Slania (2008), which marked their commercial breakthrough, Helvetios (2012), a concept album about ancient Gaul, and Ategnatos (2019), exploring spiritual rebirth. In 2025, the band issued their ninth full-length effort, Ànv.
