About The Calling
Armed with a radio-ready, post-grunge sound, Los Angeles rockers The Calling briefly caught fire in the early 2000s, when their debut single became a ubiquitous anthem. ∙ Teenage friends Alex Band and Aaron Kamin began playing together in 1996, and they formed The Calling after their demos caught the attention of Band’s neighbor, a major-label executive. ∙ The group debuted in 2001 with “Wherever You Will Go,” a massive international smash that spent 23 weeks atop the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart. ∙ Camino Palmero, The Calling’s first album, sold more than five million copies worldwide, going Gold in the US and Canada and achieving Platinum status in Brazil, Italy, and the UK. ∙ Band teamed up with Santana on the 2003 single “Why Don’t You & I,” a song from the guitar legend’s LP Shaman that originally featured Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger. ∙ Following the release of their 2004 album, Two, The Calling parted ways, but Band continued as a solo artist and briefly re-formed the group with a new lineup in 2013 and again in 2016.
