While many K-pop outfits are directly recruited from reality shows and trainee programs, several members of South Korean girl group PIXY arrived with industry experience: Ella (fka Mirae) was the former leader of Cherry Bullet, Dajeong had left the kids' group SUPA in 2018, and Satbyeol joined them after departing Girls’ Alert. Together with Lola, Dia, and Sua, the group formed PIXY in 2021, debuting in February that year with the trap-influenced single “Wings.” Their first mini albums soon followed. May’s Bravery offered a variety of electronically driven anthems, while a briefer second set, Temptation, arrived in October. After scooping up their first nomination at the Asia Artist Awards, the group entered 2022 with the breathy-voiced “Villain” and a third mini-album, Reborn.
