The Legends

About The Legends

The Legends are one of several projects masterminded by Johan Angergård (the Acid House Kings, Club 8). Initially conceived as a fuzzy, gutsy indie pop act, their first EP, There and Back Again (2004), was quickly followed by the full-length Up Against the Legends. Public Radio (2005) featured a reverb-swathed sound modeled after post-punk acts like the Cure and New Order, whereas Facts and Figures (2006) found their style shifting in favor of a chic, danceable sound that nodded to Kraftwerk and Daft Punk as well as the breezy indie pop sensibilities characteristic of Angergård's other projects. Over and Over (2009) referenced everything from '60s girl groups to angular noise rock. The modern synth pop- and R&B-leaning It's Love (2015) was followed by Nightshift (2017), which went full Moroder: All the vocals were fed through vocoders, the synths were epic, and the beats were robotic.
