Gaahls Wyrd

Gaahls Wyrd is a 21st century Norwegian black metal band. The project was started by ex-Gorgoth/Spektre frontman Gaahl (Kristian Eivind Espedal) in 2015. Their blackened sound incorporates progressive, atmospheric, and folk metal, with traces of gothic rock. Given the various members' musical pedigrees, the band began playing various cities in Norway almost immediately. Their 2017 debut was the live Bergen Nov '15. GastiR: Ghosts Invited, their initial studio outing arrived in 2019 alongside three singles. During the global pandemic they were sidelined but signed a record deal with Season of Mist. In November 2021, The Humming Mountain EP appeared from the label and was greeted with enthusiasm internationally. After a couple of years of relentless touring across Europe and North America, and lineup changes, it took another four years to release Braiding the Stories in June 2025.
