David Van Tieghem

New York-based percussionist David Van Tieghem has shown a remarkably broad sense of what constitutes a percussion instrument, "playing" everything from kitchen items to a theater itself. Sometimes coming under the heading "performance art," his work as a soloist with several albums under his own name and as an accompanist to Laurie Anderson and others is wildly imaginative. ~ William Ruhlmann
