How far can a group of German siblings go with a pirate-themed folk-rock band? Mr. Hurley & Die Pulveraffen have been answering that question since they formed in 2009. After establishing their bona fides on 2012’s Affentheatre -- which featured any historical sea shantey Western audiences could imagine -- the group has since pivoted to albums of original material that have earned them a surprisingly loyal fan base. Beginning with 2017’s Tortuga, this motley crew has put five studio albums into the upper reaches of the local music charts.
