About Zach Benson
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I joined my first band in seventh grade, and basically started doing artist bootcamp. We did everything -- shows, recording studios, interviews, wrote together. It taught me how to do the business side of the industry. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Charli xcx, BRAT The 1975, The 1975 The Postal Service, Give Up (Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition) These three records all came at pivotal times for me, they all felt like they bookmarked new chapters in my life. The Postal Service in particular really introduced to me that synthesizers & drum machines can elicit an emotional reaction. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Kissing as the Cars Pass By” "Kissing" was one of the first songs I wrote when I decided to put out solo music, and one of the first songs of mine to really catch online. I wasn't thinking too hard when I wrote it, and I think that's why it sticks. It's a very pure moment. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I've gotten to open for great acts like Set It Off, Isaac Dunbar, Sub-Radio, and Bentley Robles over the last few years, among others that I absolutely idolize. It's an insane feeling to get up in front of a huge crowd and try to win them over. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Right now I'm focusing on writing and figuring out what I want to say with the next project. But I still would love to play 9:30 Club in DC, The National here in Richmond.
