Named after the year World War I began, Ukraine’s 1914 specializes in immersive blackened death and doom metal, enriched with authentic battlefield sounds, speeches, and archival recordings that evoke the grim reality of the Great War. 1914's debut album, Eschatology of War, appeared in 2015, introducing audiences to the band's distinctive battle metal style and lyrics rooted in the psychological toll of war. Released on the centenary of the Armistice, 2018's The Blind Leading the Blind elicited acclaim both at home and abroad, while 2021's Where Fear and Weapons Meet added more symphonic textures to aid the group's cinematic storytelling. 1914 continued to explore themes of death, destruction, heroism, and brotherhood on 2025's Viribus Unitis.
