Sweet Action II

Sweet Action II

Jack Harlow released his first Sweet Action project on his 22nd birthday in March of 2020—a playfully cocky seven-track EP whose lead single, “WHATS POPPIN,” marked the rising Louisville rapper’s first Hot 100 hit. Six years later, its sequel arrives in the wake of Harlow’s transformation from trap-pop player to neo-soul crooner; his fourth studio album, 2026’s Monica, saw the rapper embracing Soulquarians beats and dressing like Common circa Be. Sweet Action II continues that trajectory, leaning into the sepia-toned sounds of the ’90s to probe the messiness of modern romance and allowing Harlow to pull off lines like, “I said, girl—excuse me, I mean woman” over Jodeci-style harmonies on “SIGNORA.” Our Favorite Track: There’s a bit more levity across the EP’s seven tracks as Harlow attempts to square his romantic idealism with reality—best of all on “TOO SOON,” which recruits the legendary Babyface for a candid exploration of post-breakup jealousy.
