For those who’ve been following Los Gemelos De Sinaloa’s auspicious rise, the arrival of The Gemeliza may feel a bit like a shared victory. Just a few years after their 2022 breakout, the short yet effective Bendecido inventively pushed the California natives within and beyond the bounds of the contemporary corridos and norteño interpretations that made them música mexicana notables, setting the stage in 2026 for this decidedly more collaborative album. Even before fan-friendly appearances by El Fantasma and Calle 24 on “El Muchachon” and the heartfelt “Tu Y Yo,” respectively, the 13-track outing gives twin brothers Juan Moises and Roberto Cardenas plenty of opportunities to showcase their refined approach to their chosen genre. This comes through on pointed cuts like “Mami” and “Te Hubieras Ido Antes,” as well as the standout “Chamba Chamba.” While technically not a joint project, prior collaborators Fuerza Regida—via executive producer JOP—return here on four separate occasions, enough to comprise a speculative EP-length partnership within the album’s structure. Starting with the vibrant opener “Chrome Hearts,” the reconstituted crew makes the most of its formidable combined forces to yield “Baby Momma” and the boisterously brassy “Soy Un Joven.” Additionally, Clave Especial joins in on “FERRARI,” a righteous corrido in which all three acts take a moment to collectively invoke the triumphant spirit of a personal come-up. Our Favorite Track: A decisive sonic shift from the diverse música mexicana forms of The Gemeliza, “Palm Springs” moves the duo into a lush reggaetón space with Blessd and hitmaking producer Ovy On the Drums.
