GOLDEN HOUR : Part.5 - EP

The K-pop stars embrace sounds from Latin music. Since their debut in 2018, K-pop octet ATEEZ has become known for bombastic, performance-driven music. In their early albums, this took the form of theatrical tracks like 2018’s trap shanty “Pirate King” or 2019’s swashbucklingly symphonic “WONDERLAND.” On the fifth installment of their GOLDEN HOUR series, the KQ Entertainment crew is embracing Latin music trends to expand on their oeuvre of sensual, hip-hop-driven hits. GOLDEN HOUR : Part.5 isn’t the first time ATEEZ has experimented with Latin-infused K-pop, with 2023’s “ARRIBA” and 2024’s “Blind” embracing similar sonic influences. But the 2026 EP puts Latin sounds front and center. Phonk-infused lead single “BAD” and Latin trap follow-up “MAMACITA” see members Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho skewing stereotypical to sing about a curvy Latina lover and a “señorita [that] burns like tequila.” The back half of GOLDEN HOUR : Part.5 settles into comparatively low-key sounds for its further exploration of attraction, with R&B jams “TOXIN” and “Body” and EDM-grunge track “Fallin’” continuing ATEEZ’s tradition of challenging K-pop norms around singing about sex. Two years after the start of the GOLDEN HOUR series, ATEEZ’s setting sun smolders on.
