Glimmers Continued

That title is no accident: Velvet Trip expand upon 2025’s Glimmers EP here, adding six new tracks to create a compelling second album. The project of Wiradjuri multi-instrumentalist Zeppelin Hamilton has gradually grown to include bandmates Toby Anagnostis—who co-produced this record with Hamilton—and Clayton Allen. Instant earworms like “It Don’t Matter” and “The Bends” from the original EP are hard acts to follow, but “Tell Me Why” ranks right up there with them, thanks to its percolating bass patterns, rippling synth washes and questioning falsetto chorus. Hamilton routinely packages messy interpersonal drama into tidy refrains that roll off the tongue: “You only ever call me when you want something from me/But, baby, you don’t get that for free,” he lays out ever so smoothly on “Fr3o.” He also reaches beyond Velvet Trip’s usual bustling fusion of disco and psych on the closing “It’s All for You,” which plays like the most momentous slow dance at a school formal. As Hamilton sings about learning to love himself, the song’s warm, lullaby quality shows that his lyrical and instrumental finesse aren’t purely dependent upon upbeat energy.
