

Though this is Walking on Cars’ debut full-length album, the Irish quintet power through shout-along anthems as if a lifetime of headlining European festivals were assured. To borrow a phrase from their patron saints in Coldplay, every teardrop is indeed a waterfall for Walking on Cars, as “Catch Me If You Can” and “At Gunpoint” blossom from plaintive serenades into arena-rattling surges. But frontman Patrick Sheehy exudes just the right balance of grit and gravitas, ensuring an earthbound intimacy even as the songs shoot for the stratosphere.
